MCWD Classified with Severe Drought
The U.S. Drought Monitor map releases an update every week. The July 11, 2023 drought map for Minnesota, shown below on the right, identifies that approximately 11.25% of the state has been classified with severe drought, including the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD). Impacts associated with a severe drought classification include very low river flows, fish kills, stressed landscapes with leaves changing color early, and a high fire danger.
